al-Mart Stores’ third-quarter net income rose 3.8% to $2.37 billion or 57 cents a share, from $2.29 billion or 54 cents a year earlier.

For the quarter, which ended Oct. 31, the retail giant’s sales rose to $75.44 billion, from $68.52 billion a year earlier.

The company must boost sales during the upcoming holiday season to reach its traditional double-digit growth, the Wall Street Journal reported.



Wal-Mart is ranked No. 2 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of North American private carriers.
