Wabash Names Hackett New Chairman
Trailer manufacturer Wabash National Corp. (WNC) said Tuesday that John T. Hackett has been elected chairman of the board of directors. He succeeds Donald J. Ehrlich, who founded the company in 1985.
In July, Wabash reported a net loss of $10.8 million for the second quarter, compared with a net income of $7.5 million in the same period last year.
Acting Chief Executive Officer Richard Dessimoz told Transport Topics that Erhlich will remain on the board.
Hackett has been a member of the board since 1991 and is managing general partner of CID Equity Partners, a private investment partnership.
The Lafayette, Ind.-based company, which makes truck trailers under the Wabash and Fruehauf nameplates, said in August that is was cutting its workforce by 18% and closing two assembly plants and a distribution center.
