Volvo Trucks has opened a 1.1-mile customer experience test track at its New River Valley, Virginia, manufacturing facility.

The Customer Experience Track was designed and built to U.S. Department of Transportation standards and has banked curves that allow trucks to achieve highway speeds of 65 mph on straight sections and 35 mph around curved areas, according to Volvo Trucks.

The off-highway area is located inside the paved road course and features a variety of surfaces to replicate a work area to test the company’s Class 8 trucks.

“The customer experience track is built to simulate real-world driving conditions and provide our visitors with the opportunity to experience firsthand the quality and performance of Volvo trucks,” G?ran Nyberg, president of Volvo Trucks North American sales and marketing, said in a statement.

“Getting behind the wheel to experience our vehicles is the ultimate way to complement a tour of our New River Valley manufacturing facility,” Nyberg said.
