Volvo Japan Unit Reportedly Expanding Diesel Engine Capacity

Japanese firm UD Trucks Corp., a unit of Volvo AB, will invest about $60 million to set up a commercial vehicle diesel engine production line near Tokyo, Bloomberg reported Monday.

The line will have capacity to produce 40,000 engines a year, doubling production at the company’s Ageo plant, according to a report in Japan’s Nikkei newspaper, Bloomberg said.

Volvo AB is the parent company of Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks.
