ATLANTA — Valvoline Inc. launched an engine oil approved for use in natural gas fleet engines, the company announced at the Technology & Maintenance Council annual meeting March 7.

The oil, Valvoline Premium Blue One Solution 9200, also is designed for API CK-4 application diesel, and API SN application gas fleet engines.

It’s designed to provide significant wear protection, and high-level deposit protection when compared to industry standards, as well as high-performance temperature oxidation resistance, according to the company.

“The purpose of Premium Blue One Solution is to dramatically simplify the fill process for fleet managers, enabling one proven product to be used across a number of engine applications,” said David Young, vice president of Valvoline Heavy Duty, in a statement. “We’ve taken our innovation to the next step in terms of natural gas engine oil, bringing a new brand product to the marketplace.”

The engine oil was developed as part of the company’s work with Cummins Westport. The product also is recommended for other engine manufacturers.

“While there were previously oils in the marketplace that could be used in diesel and gas engines,” Young explained, “there was not one approved across all fuel types, until now.”
