USA Truck Appoints Susan Chambers to Board

Truckload carrier USA Truck Inc. named Susan Chambers, a former senior executive with Wal-Mart Stores Inc., to its board as part of an effort to strengthen its governance structure.

The Van Buren, Arkansas-based carrier said Chambers retired in 2015 after serving as  the executive vice president and chief human resource officer for Wal-Mart. She was responsible for compensation, recruiting, development and retention initiatives as well as benefits and communications for more than 2 million Wal-Mart associates worldwide. Her duties included human resource technology, culture, diversity and inclusion, and regulatory issues.

USA Truck ranks No. 50 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.

“Susan’s vast experience as a senior officer of one of America’s iconic companies will assist us in areas that are critical to the success of our company — most notably, driver and staff retention as well as leveraging technology to enhance operational effectiveness,” USA Truck Chairman Robert Peiser said in a statement.
