estern freight railroad Union Pacific Corp. said Thursday its third-quarter profit rose to $420 million or $1.54 a share, from $369 million or $1.38 cents in 2005.
Revenue at the rail carrier rose 15% to $3.9 billion, compared with $3.5 billion in last year’s third quarter, the company said in a statement.
The carrier's operating ratio for the quarter was 81.1%.
