Union Pacific Names James Young CEO, Effective in January

nion Pacific Corp. Thursday said James Young was elected chief executive officer, effective Jan. 1.

Dick Davidson, UP’s current chairman and CEO, will remain chairman of the board, while Young will remain president of Union Pacific Railroad.

Young, 53, joined Union Pacific in 1978 in the Finance Department and has held a number of positions at both the railroad and the corporation, UP said in a statement. He became executive vice president and chief financial officer of the corporation in 1999 and president and chief operating officer of the railroad in January 2004.



UP is the largest U.S. freight railroad by revenue, operating in states west of the Mississippi River.
