TTNews.com Issues Correction to News Story

A story posted on TTNews.com on Wednesday morning misstated the position of the Intermodal Association of North America, and its president, Joni Casey, over the issue of responsibility for intermodal chassis maintenance and safety.

To clarify her group’s position, Casey said on June 1, “IANA has not, and does not, support a regulatory and/or legislative solution to the intermodal equipment roadability issue. All of our efforts in this area have been devoted to developing resolution through private-sector initiatives. We cannot, and will not, take a policy position on any item where there is not a clear consensus among our diverse membership.

“IANA has been involved in every aspect of the equipment roadability issue since its inception and will continue to provide a forum for the various stakeholders to work on industry-based programs to implement requirements that come out of any rulemaking,” she said.
