on Have, president and owner of Freightmasters Inc., Eagan, Minn., has purchased Major Transport, an Eagan-based nationwide truckload carrier, from Wayne Hoovestol.

Terms were not disclosed. Both Freightmasters and Major are privately held.

Freightmasters, which specializes in air, retail and truckload freight, said it would keep its air and retail transport lines, and will continue to provide dedicated and logistics services, while it will transfer its truckload division to Major Transport.

Have, who founded Freightmasters in 1975, said he plans to replace Major’s entire fleet of 275 tractors over the coming months with new trucks.

“There couldn’t have been a better match,” said Have, who added that the trucking services offered and regions served complement each other.

Nearly all of Major Transport’s 300 drivers are company employees, with just a few independent contractors who own and maintain their trucks.

Major also has terminals in Tifton, Ga. and Commerce City, Colo. Freightmasters’ primary facility is in Eagan, and it also has satellite terminals in the Chicago suburb of Bensenville, Ill., and Seattle.
