Tornadoes Shut Interstate 40 in Arkansas

Overnight tornadoes tore through Arkansas, closing a section of Interstate 40 after a twister as wide as half a mile ran across the highway, CNN reported April 28.

The well-traveled highway was littered with crushed and overturned trucks and cars, with the worst damage north of Little Rock. At least 17 people were killed in multiple tornadoes in Arkansas and Oklahoma, CNN reported.

Parts of Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee were under a watch Monday for more tornadoes as an unstable weather system tracked east, Memphis television station WREG reported, citing the National Weather Service.
