Templin Succeeds Kennedy as Chairman of Con-way Inc.

Con-way Inc. announced that Roy Templin has succeeded Keith Kennedy Jr. as chairman of the carrier’s board of directors.

Templin, 53, has been a member of the less-than-truckload carrier’s board since 2012. Prior to joining Con-way’s board, he retired as chief financial officer at Whirlpool Corp., a manufacturer of home appliances.

Kennedy, 70, will continue to serve on Con-way’s board until he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 72, the company said in the Jan. 22 statement. He had been chairman since 2004 and has been a board member since 1996.

The board identified Templin as Kennedy’s eventual successor in June as part of a planned leadership transition.

Con-way, based in Ann Arbor, Mich., ranks No. 3 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
