Group Lauds Stability Control Systems
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety said last week equipping vehicles with electronic stability control could reduce single-vehicle crashes by more than 50%.In a study released Oct. 28, the group said that each year there are about 14,000 of those crashes.
Similar systems have been tested for commercial vehicles as a way of preventing rollover crashes. Transport Topics
Hines Leaves Pegasus TransTech
Chris Hines, president of the transportation division of Pegasus TransTech, a Tampa, Fla.-based firm that provides document imaging and consulting services to the trucking industry, has left the company.Pegasus Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bob Helms said Hines departed Oct. 1 and Frank Adelman, who was hired in September, has assumed responsibility for all sales and marketing functions. New Containers Protect Cargo From Temperature Changes
Aerospace Composite Structures LLC and Kelvin Technologies Inc. said they have unveiled the "KelvinBox," a specialized air cargo container designed to protect shipments from extremes of heat and cold for up to seven days.The companies said in a statement the containers would undergo tests specified by the Federal Aviation Administration as part of its certification process.
The containers are expected to be used by the pharmaceutical and food industries, the companies said. They said products shipped using the box would never experience temperatures changes of more than several degrees. Transport Topics
