Modine to Supply Freightliner With Cooling Modules

Modine Manufacturing Co. said Monday it had been chosen as to supply engine cooling modules for Freightliner Group in North America and that it will become the development partner for Mercedes-Benz Truck in Europe.

Modine said in a statement that the truck companies’ parent, DaimlerChrysler AG, is looking for global ways to meet the tighter emissions standards worldwide on heavy-duty truck engines.

The long-term contract between Modine and DaimlerChrysler will apply to heavy-duty trucks under the Freightliner brands, Modine said.



Modine said it will manufacture and assemble engine cooling modules beginning this fall at its Trenton, Mo., with each module to include a radiator and charge-air-cooler. Transport Topics


J.B. Hunt Extends Trailer-Tracking With Terion

Terion Inc. said Thursday that J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. signed an agreement for continued deployment of Terion’s FleetView 3 trailer-tracking system on J.B. Hunt’s trailers within the carrier's truckload and dedicated contract services operating segments.

J.B. Hunt, which runs its 20,000 trailers with Terion tracking systems, will continue to use the older FleetView 2.5 product and add the new ones as needed to support its expansion needs.

J.B. Hunt also is installing Terion’s Tractor ID product to its entire tractor fleet, which uses technology to identify the tractors hooked up to any FleetView-equipped trailer.

Ryder to Distribute New Training Program

Ryder System said last week it partnered with Instructional Technologies to host, market and distribute a Web-based version of ITI’s interactive driver training program, called Tread-1.

The program, which will be marketed under the name Ryder Pro-TREAD, is designed for Ryder’s customers, drivers and the transportation industry, the company said in a statement.

The program includes training in defensive driving, driver qualifications and hours of service and is designed to train both new and veteran commercial truck drivers.

Remote Dynamics Sets Stock Sale

Commercial-fleet telematics provider Remote Dynamics Inc. said Friday it signed a stock purchase agreement for the proposed sale of $6.5 million of preferred common stock purchase warrants in a private placement transaction with an institutional investor.

As part of the proposed sale, the company will use a portion of the proceeds to redeem $5 million of convertible preferred stock held by the institutional investor, resulting in net proceeds to the company of $750,000, the company said in a statement.

Remote Dynamics provides satellite-based and wireless telematics with supply chain management and exception-based reporting that analyzes mobile workforce efficiencies. Transport Topics
