FedEx Freight said the Teamsters for the fourth time in five weeks has withdrawn a representation election petition as the unionization battle between the sides continues.

The latest withdrawal was at Nashville, Tennessee, and followed identical steps at terminals in New Jersey, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

“The union would only take this action if it recognized that it would lose,” said a statement from FedEx Freight, a unit of FedEx Corp.

“Our drivers continue to send a clear message that the union is not needed and not wanted,” Chief Operating Officer Pat Reed, said in the statement. “We remain confident that the vast majority of our team members want to continue their direct relationship with management without third-party interference.”

In addition to the four withdrawals, six elections have taken place. The union has prevailed in three, and the company has won three.
