Supervalu’s Earnings Rise for Fiscal 2Q

Grocery chain Supervalu Inc. earned $148 million, or 69 cents a share, for its second quarter ended Sept. 8, up from $132 million or 61 cents a year earlier.

Sales dipped to $10.16 billion, from $10.67 billion last year, the company said Tuesday.

Supervalu, which has about 1,350 trucks in its fleet, is ranked No. 13 in the Transport Topics 100 listing of private North American carriers.
