Stolen Truck Cab Found; Trailer Still Missing

The cab from a stolen truck carrying fertilizer and pesticides was found in Elizabeth, N.J. on Thursday, but the trailer containing its hazardous cargo is still missing, the New York Daily News reported.

The cab has been towed to a police forensic laboratory for tests, and law enforcement agencies are advising that although there is no evidence of terrorist activity, officers should not to open the truck if it is found.

The missing truck, which was stolen either Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning from Rockland Corp. in Parsippany, N.J., is causing concern because some fertilizers can be used to make explosives.

According to the Newark Star-Ledger, the trailer had been loaded with landscaping products, primarily limestone, as well as lawn fertilizer and liquid pesticide.

New Jersey police said the 45-foot white trailer, a 1988 Fruehauf model with New Jersey registration T392VD, has "Rockland" in green letters on all four sides.

Authorities again said they believe it is very possible that someone stole the truck in the hope it was carrying electronics or clothing that could easily be resold.
