SMC3 Acquires Transportation Costing Group

SMC3, a provider of less-than-truckload pricing and transit-time services, acquired the assets of Transportation Costing Group.

This acquisition, SMC3 said, will offer increased support to its LTL members while expanding its customer base to include truckload companies. Terms were not disclosed.

The Peachtree City, Georgia-based company said TCG provides TL and LTL motor carriers with cost-modeling software and other management tools based on its patented accounting formulas.

“There are numerous synergies between SMC3 and TCG,” Jack Middleton, SMC3’s CEO, said in a statement. “Adding the industry-leading carrier-costing software to our current portfolio of pricing and transit-time products will allow SMC3 to continue its path of sustainable growth.”

TCG Chairman and CEO Ken Manning will join SMC3 to help integrate the new products, the company said.
