Mobile Awareness to Distribute Occupational Athletics Products to Transportation Workers

Mobile Awareness, a provider of transportation safety products, has signed an agreement to supply products from Occupational Athletics Health and Safety Systems.

Mobile Awareness will provide Occupational Athletics’ Road and Bus Athlete Interactive Health and Safety Systems, which consist of gamebooks with daily health and safety tips and two compact discs with a roundtable discussion of health and safety issues, a stretch card, quarterly survey cards and a nutrition guide.

Port of Houston Authority Approves Additional Security Measures

The Port of Houston Authority on Monday approved several new high-tech security programs.

Port officials said they will accept proposals for the installation of an access control system in the restricted areas of the North Turning Basin and East Industrial Park terminals. Such a system is expected to cost up to $6.3 million, the Port Authority Houston said in a statement.

The Port will also accept proposals for access control systems at its Manchester and Care terminals in addition to closed circuit television surveillance systems at the Care and Southside terminals.Transport Topics


Pennsylvania Sees Fewer Highway Fatalities Over Thanksgiving Holiday

The number of highway fatalities, injuries and total crashes investigated by State Police during the five-day Thanksgiving holiday driving period all dropped compared to the same period last year, said Jeffrey B. Miller, Pennsylvania’s state police commission.

11 people were killed and 379 others were injured in the 1,066 crashes to which State Police responded during the holiday driving period that ran Wednesday through Sunday, Miller said Monday in a statement.

By comparison, 13 people were killed and 503 others were injured in 1,738 crashes investigated by Pennsylvania state troopers during the 2005 Thanksgiving driving period. Transport Topics
