The Latest Headlines:

Killer Virus Could Hurt Businesses

The outbreak of the deadly Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, or SARS virus, in Asia could damage supply lines and hurt U.S. businesses, news services reported.

The virus has already caused a drop-off in travel, and in the case of an American Airlines flight from Japan to San Jose, Calif., temporary quarantine of the plane and its passengers, the Associated Press reported.

If commercial air travel was restricted to and from Asia, the airfreight carried by those airlines might have to be diverted or stored until travel is deemed safer.

American Airlines issued a statement Tuesday that despite five people had reports SARS-like symptoms, no one was found to have the disease. Transport Topics
