Schneider to Close Alabama Truck Center
ruckload carrier Schneider National said Wednesday it will close its company-owned truck center in Evergreen, Ala., by the end of the year to “streamline operations and manage costs.”
Schneider officials said the facility’s 52 employees will be offered positions elsewhere with the company if they are willing to relocate. Otherwise, it will offer them job support and layoff packages.
Drivers will be reassigned to one of 17 other Schneider driver terminals located around the country, based on business need or proximity to their hometowns, the company said. Schneider has 22,300 employees worldwide.
Schneider ranks No. 8 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers and is the second-largest truckload carrier.
