Salt Lake City Dealership Expands Via Acquisition

Great Basin Cos., a medium- and heavy-duty truck and trailer dealership in Salt Lake City, announced it has acquired two companies in the Las Vegas area.

A new company, called Great Basin Trucks of Nevada, was created through the acquisition of Nevada Mack and Vegas Truck Center, a Freightliner dealer. It will be franchised to sell Volvo, Mack and GMC power units as well as Heil and Great Dane trailer products.

Eric C. Jackson, chief executive officer of Great Basin Cos., said the latest acquisitions are part of the company’s overall growth strategy.

“We have averaged two acquisitions per year since 1991,” said Jackson, whose company has 21 locations across the United States.

Great Basin signed a 10-year lease on the property site for Vegas Truck Center, with an option to purchase. Vehicles and staffers from Nevada Mack will be consolidated at the location on Losee Road.
