yder System Inc. hosted the official grand opening of its new global headquarters facility Friday morning, in Miami-Dade County, Fla.

The company’s former headquarters was also in Miami.

Gov. Jeb Bush (R) was scheduled to be on hand, as were representatives of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners; the Beacon Council, Miami-Dade’s economic development group; and Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez.

Ryder, founded in Miami in 1933, provides transportation, logistics and supply chain management services.

With a new capital investment of approximately $40 million, Ryder’s new headquarters will generate more than $9 million in new incremental tax revenue over the next 10 years, the Beacon Council said.

In 2002, the company had considered relocating its headquarter operations outside of Miami-Dade, looking at approximately 20 sites outside the county, the Beacon Council said.

Ryder is ranked No. 5 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
