Ryder System has reserved 500 new Chanje Energy medium-duty electric panel vans for its North American truck rental and ChoiceLease fleet, the company announced June 7. The reservation will be executed as lease agreements for the electric vehicles are finalized.

Chanje’s electric large delivery van can haul up to 6,000 pounds and 580 cubic feet of cargo. It has a 100-mile range on a single charge.

Ryder is the exclusive sales channel and service partner for Chanje and its medium-duty fleet. Ryder offers truck leasing and maintenance as part of its ChoiceLease and SelectCare fleet programs.

“Ryder continues to see broadening interest in EVs from businesses of various sizes and industries, and especially from those companies in parcel, final-mile or beverage delivery space,” said Dennis Cooke, president of global fleet management solutions at Ryder. “There’s interest from customers who have daily return-to-base routes of 40 to 100 miles and in markets with incentives available for electric vehicles.”

Ryder operates maintenance and charging facilities serving electric vehicles in the Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose markets in California, as well as the Chicago and New York markets.
