"I would ask that TMC use its membership and its influence with [American Trucking Associations] and the regulators to ensure that we never have to experience the hysteria that preceded the Oct. 1 emissions regulations," said Gregory T. Swienton, chairman and president of Ryder System Inc.
Miami-based Ryder is field testing a few trucks with the new engines, but has not had them long enough to draw any conclusions, he said Oct. 15 after a speech at TMC's fall meeting here. The company typically gets involved in new product development and evaluation years ahead of production, Jim Salas, Ryder System engineering manager, told Transport Topics.
