Roadrunner Transportation Systems Inc. has rebranded its logistics business as Ascent Global Logistics, the trucking company announced Jan. 25.

Formerly called Global Solutions, the segment of Cudahy, Wisconsin-based Roadrunner provides freight management, international freight forwarding and consolidation of shipments to retailers.

Roadrunner ranks No. 16 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.

Ascent will remain a Roadrunner entity but operate independently, the company said.

The logistics business has more than 3,000 clients, according to Roadrunner. In its most recent annual report to securities regulators, in March, Roadrunner stated the unit had more than 70 salespeople, commissioned sales representatives and agents.

Through nine months ended Sept. 30, the logistics unit took in $250 million in revenue, or about 17% of Roadrunner’s $1.5 billion in sales. The company’s trucking operations accounted for the rest.
