Rand McNally Announces Product Updates at MATS

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Rand McNally made several product announcements here, including the news that the latest version of its IntelliRoute TND 520 truck GPS device will be available for sale in May.

Amy Krouse, Rand McNally’s director of marketing, said here at the Mid-America Trucking show that the Wi-Fi capabilities of the 520 offer new real-time data services aimed at saving truckers’ time and money.

For example, real-time diesel and gasoline prices are provided and can be viewed by brand, price or distance to location. Current and future weather forecasts also are included, along with storm alerts and wind speeds.

Rand McNally demonstrated a premium service called Traffic Everywhere. From a conference room at the Kentucky Exposition Center, company officials showed real-time traffic information in Chicago. That included interstate delays due to paving operations and an alert about a sold-out concert downtown that evening.

The company also announced a partnership with Getloaded, a Web-based freight matching service. Under the terms of the deal, users of IntelliRoute devices will have access to an exclusive load board. For a discounted price, users can view available freight and post their truck availability.

The company also said it is the first to begin selling electronic logging devices at TravelCenters of America and Petro Stopping Centers.
