Qualcomm Previews Updated MCP100

Qualcomm Inc. has released details about the next generation hardware in its MCP100 mobile computing system.

The new hardware, the MCP110, supports all the software currently running on MCP100 systems. The MCP110 will use cellular networks for data transfer, and users will have the option to add Wi-Fi connectivity, Qualcomm said.

Other new features announced for the MCP110 include a higher-resolution display and the ability to read Adobe PDF documents.

The new hardware will be available this fall, San Diego-based Qualcomm said in an Aug. 24 statement.

The MCP100 series, Qualcomm’s middle-of-the-line mobile computing system, was the company’s first offering to feature a full-color display and a touch screen. The system has “more than 500 customers,” Qualcomm said.
