Panel Recommends Chicago Retrofit Program

The Chicago Agency for Metropolitan Planning said the city should adopt an on-road diesel fleet retrofit project, which would provide up to $1 million for emission-reducing technology.

The agency made the recommendation last month as part of the city’s proposed Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality plan.

CMAQ, a federal program, provides more than $8.6 billion in funds to state DOT and transit agencies for projects that improve air quality.
