Cascade Sierra Solutions, a nonprofit group that promotes the sale of products to help truck drivers save fuel and reduce emissions, said it has opened the first of what could be as many as eight “green truck technology” showrooms along the Interstate 5 corridor in Oregon, Washington and California.Sharon Banks, chief executive officer for CSS in Coburg, Ore., said each showroom will feature products from more than 40 manufacturers and include auxiliary power units, tire inflation systems and aerodynamic accessories for tractors and trailers.“We can easily save 25% of fuel consumed by a big rig and reduce 90% of the emissions — while saving $1,000 per month in fuel costs per truck,” Banks said in a statement issued following the opening of the first showroom, housed in a refurbished office trailer at the TravelCenters of America truck stop near Eugene, Ore.For the full story, see the March 5 print edition of Transport Topics.
