Operating Profit at DaimlerChrysler’s Truck Division Rises

aimlerChrysler, the parent company of truck maker Freightliner LLC, on Wednesday said its Truck Group division posted a third-quarter operating profit of $705 million, up 57% from $449 million in 2005.

Third-quarter Truck Group revenue rose 3% to $10.1 billion from 9.9 billion in 2005, the company said in a statement.

The company sold 141,900 trucks worldwide — a 2% increase compared with last year.



North American truck sales rose 3% to 55,400 units, while Europe/Latin America sales rose to 37,700 vehicles.

Total operating profit at DaimlerChrysler fell 51% to $1.1 billion in the quarter, from $2.3 billion a year ago.
