olls on the Ohio Turnpike will increase starting Jan. 1, though not to levels as high as those in 2004, American Trucking Associations said.
The rate will increase to $33.50 for five-axle big rigs, from the current $31, ATA and the Ohio Trucking Association said, citing a Monday decision by the Ohio Turnpike Commission.
The toll rate was lowered to $31 from the $42.45 rate of 2004 as part of an attempt to attract more traffic to the Turnpike, ATA said.
The commission also voted to adopt E-ZPass for drivers on the highway, and drivers should expect the automated toll collection system to be available in about two years, ATA and OTA said.
