New Home Sales Rise 2.1% in September

.S. new home sales rose 2.1% in September, turning around a decline the previous month, the Commerce Department reported Thursday.

The increase brought new sales to a 1.222 million annual rate from a revised August level of 1.197 million, which had been the lowest since January.

The rate was lower than the 1.25 million rate that economists had forecast, Bloomberg reported.
