Mentor, a Siemens business, has announced that Navistar Inc. is delivering “significantly improved service” to its customers using technology from the Capital software suite. Navistar’s commercial vehicles include both heavy trucks and buses.

In a release, Navistar stated that “Capital is a powerful electrical systems software environment spanning vehicle architecture, systems design and integration, service documentation creation and wire harness manufacturing tools.” The technology now adopted by Navistar quickens electrical system fault diagnosis, which lowers maintenance costs and maximizing vehicle availability, according to the release.

The move parlays industry interest in onboard electrical and electronic systems, and rapidly identifying and diagnosing system faults. Navistar now uses Capital Publisher, part of the Capital tool suite, to both automate creation of technical documentation but also provide a highly interactive environment for service technicians.

Dominic Venice, service information manager at Navistar, explained, “By deploying Mentor’s technology to our dealership network, we have taken a major step forward in customer service capabilities.”

He added that their dealership network is already starting to see benefits from the technology.

Fully integrated with diagnostics systems, Capital Publisher is able to display and seamlessly link assets such as wiring schematics, connector location views, component locations and truck harness views.
