Nafta Surface Trade Grows 2.8% in November

Surface trade among the United States, Canada and Mexico increased 2.8% in November, the Department of Transportation announced.

Trade among the North American Free Trade Agreement partners rose to $96.1 billion, DOT’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics said Jan. 29 in its monthly report.

Freight carried by trucks, trains and pipelines increased, and marine and air trade fell. Trucks carried 59.9% of the freight by value among the Nafta nations, BTS said.

Freight moved by rail, which was 16.1% of the total Nafta trade, grew 8.1% year-over-year, BTS said.



Truck imports to the United States from the two countries increased 0.5% to $27.4 billion, and exports grew 4.4% to $30.2 billion.
