Menlo Starts European Freight Brokerage Service

Menlo Worldwide Logistics said its European unit has unveiled a freight brokerage service after a year of trial operations.

“Menlo has operated a successful and growing freight brokerage operation in North America since 2007 under our sister company, Con-way Multimodal,” Tony Gunn, managing director for Menlo Logistics in Europe, said in a statement.

“We are confident that our philosophy of reducing cost and minimizing waste in the freight transport process will appeal to the European market for freight brokerage services,” he said. “The test strategy we have employed over the past 12 months has validated this approach, and we are very pleased with the up-take from a wide range of customers.”

After the trial period, the freight brokerage service is managing more than 500 shipments a month across a variety of transportation modes. Most of its freight has been moved within Europe, but some has gone to Asia or North America.

Expanding to Europe is part of Menlo’s strategy to provide freight brokerage services worldwide, the company said.

Menlo’s Europe office is based in Amsterdam. Menlo Worldwide Logistics ranks No. 20 on the Transport Topics Logistics Top 50 listing of North American logistics firms.
