Menlo Expands Relationship With Dana, Adds Curves

Dana Holding Corp. and Menlo Worldwide Logistics said they have expanded their relationship, with the parts manufacturer asking the third-party logistics provider to handle transportation management for its Mexican operations.

Menlo also said it landed a warehouse management contract in Australia and New Zealand for Curves International, a women’s fitness center.

An April 30 statement from Menlo, San Mateo, Calif., said the 3PL will manage intra-Mexican and cross-border shipments for Dana facilities in Mexico City, Toluca, Monterrey, Chihuahua and Queretaro.

Menlo is a division of Con-way Inc. Dana manufactures components and systems for trucks and cars. Based in Toledo, Ohio, Dana sells its truck components — including axles, brakes and drive shafts — through the Roadranger joint marketing venture with Eaton Corp.

The statement said a Menlo team will work out of Dana’s logistics headquarters, located in Queretaro, to manage the transportation, and will include a small freight audit team in Menlo’s Guadalajara supply chain office.

Menlo also will be responsible for interacting with customs brokers to set priorities for shipments and optimizing trailer utilization for more efficient scheduling, the companies said.

Curves, Woodway, Texas, is a new customer for Menlo, the company said May 5. Menlo said it will use its 31,600-square foot facility in Sydney, Australia, to service Curves in both countries. Menlo will handle replacement exercise equipment, spare parts, workout and casual apparel, diet aids, food supplements and promotional items, the Menlo statement said.
