McCorkle Sets Regulatory Focus

Industry-Government Cooperation Sought

img src="/sites/default/files/images/articles/printeditiontag_new.gif" width=120 align=right>ORLANDO, Fla. — David McCorkle, fresh from ending his one-year term as chairman of American Trucking Associations, said he will begin his new job chairing the ATA Executive Committee with a push to get ATA and government officials to work more closely together in developing rules for the industry.

The ATA chairmanship put him in the role of overseeing policy development, while his new job has him watching over ATA operations.

While the staff at ATA and government regulators already discuss rules the government considers that affect trucking, McCorkle said he wants the relationship to be closer in order to avoid missteps and bad rules that can harm the industry.
