Marten Transport’s Second-Quarter Profits Rise

efrigerated truckload carrier Marten Transport said late Wednesday it earned $6.8 million or 46 cents a share in the second quarter, up from $4.8 million or 33 cents a year earlier.

The company’s operating revenue rose 22.7% to $112.8 million.

Freight revenue, excluding fuel surcharges, rose 14% from a year earlier and the results were “driven by a 5.7% increase in average freight revenue per tractor per week,” Randolph Marten, the company's president, said in a statement.
