| Staff ReporterA Marriage Made at D.M. Bowman Inc.
WILLIAMSPORT, Md. D.M. Bowman has developed a unique benefit for its male drivers — a wife. If drivers already have a spouse at home, they get an extra caretaker at work.
This very critical role is fulfilled by Lynn Tetric, who for the past 18 months has been one of four driver managers at the company’s headquarters in Williamsport, Md. The full-service carrier calls its dispatchers “driver managers” in recognition of their contribution in supervising people and the flow of freight.
Tetric, a tall, energetic woman, truly manages the lives of the about 40 drivers under her charge — not unlike a wife might. Not only does she divvy up loads and routes, Tetric also helps the them remember doctor appointments, the time of their child’s soccer games and special occasions like wedding anniversaries.
Her personalized touch seems to work well at Bowman, because drivers are not shy about expressing their displeasure when they have to deal with someone else.
