Manitoulin Transport has purchased Jomac Transport of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Terms were not disclosed

Manitoulin said the acquisition provides comprehensive ground coverage throughout Manitoba and builds on its purchase of Smooth Freight of Brandon, Manitoba, in November.

“Nothing says commitment to a region like providing complete coverage, and by acquiring Jomac, we now have Manitoba covered,” Manitoulin President Don Goodwill said in a statement.

“Jomac was very appealing to us because of their strong customer relationships, high quality of service, disciplined approach to operations, and because they have a company culture similar to our own,” Goodwill said.

Jomac Transport provides daily overnight freight-shipping service among Winnipeg and the northern Manitoba communities of Thompson, Flin Flon and The Pas. Jomac also services remote communities during winter road season.

Under terms of the purchase agreement, Manitoulin Transport will acquire all of Jomac’s assets and employees.

“This merge will certainly benefit companies in Manitoba as Manitoulin can provide more extensive coverage and services to help bring their business to the next level,” Jomac President Wes MacLean said in a statement.

MacLean will be staying on at Jomac in a consulting role as it transitions to Manitoulin.
