Mack Trucks grew its relationship with video telematics firm Lytx Inc., offering a pre-wire option of its DriveCam and Video Services technology to buyers of Mack Granite Class 8 vehicles.

The Granite is a leading Class 8 heavy-duty conventional straight truck model in the United States. Its applications include heavy-hauling, logging, concrete mixer and dump truck; government agencies use it for plowing. Granite trucks with the Ltyx equipment option will be available in the third quarter.

Mack and Lytx announced in October 2017 they had signed a memorandum of understanding to build levels of integration and collaborate to support mutual customers. This April the two said buyers of Mack’s LR and TerraPro refuse models could opt for models pre-wired with the Lytx DriveCam safety program and its Video Services enhancement.

More than 3,000 organizations have Lytx camera systems installed on their vehicles and used for driver coaching and predictive analytics, along with proof of service or delivery verification.

Mack Trucks is a unit of Volvo Group.
