Mack Trucks Inc. has introduced the MP8 505C+, a 13-liter, 505-horsepower engine platform that the company says is ideal for longhaul applications.

The engine has 1,860 pound feet of torque and delivers the maximum amount of torque in all gears to maximize fuel efficiency according to Mack.

“This engine is all about power and performance,” Roy Horton, director of product marketing, said in a statement. “The MP8 505C+ is an excellent option for customers seeking a lower-displacement engine, which saves weight and improves fuel economy, but one that can also readily manage heavy loads across rigorous terrain.”

The powertrain is available in the Mack Pinnacle, Axle Forward and Axle Back models. The Pinnacle model is designed for over-the-road hauling with a Mack Advantage chassis to optimize payload, according to the company.

“The MP8 505C+ builds on Mack’s long-standing commitment to customizing solutions to best fulfill a customer’s needs,” Horton said.
