he combined average price for all grades of gasoline declined more than 3 cents a gallon to $1.82 between Dec. 17 and Friday, according to the Lundberg survey of 7,000 gas stations across the country.

The price for self-serve regular was $1.79 a gallon, mid-grade was $1.90, and premium was $1.99 a gallon for the period. The trucking industry burns an estimated 290 million gallons of gasoline each week.

The average price has fallen nearly 25 cents a gallon since Oct. 22, the survey said, although it's still 24 cents higher than it was a year earlier.

Analyst Trilby Lundberg said gasoline prices have continued to slide as crude oil supplies increased, the Associated Press reported. However, she also said the decline could be coming to an end because crude prices have been rising again in recent weeks.

At surveyed stations, the highest average price for all grades combined was Honolulu, at $2.32. The lowest was in Norfolk, Va., at $1.65.
