Lofgren Named President, CEO at Schneider National

Schneider National Inc. Friday named Christopher Lofgren president, chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors.

he first leader of the company not a member of the Schneider family, he succeeds Donald Schneider, who will continue as the chairman of the board.

Lofgren, 43, joined Schneider Logistics in 1994 as a vice president and has served as chief information officer. Since 2000, he has been chief operating officer of Schneider National.

Schneider, 66, began working in his father’s trucking company while still in high school before taking over the family business after graduating from St. Norbert College in Minnesota in 1957 and receiving a master’s in business administration from the University of Pennsylvania in 1961.

Lofgren holds a doctorate from the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech.

Just before stepping aside, Schneider was named a regional winner of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Under his leadership, Schneider National became one of the largest trucking companies in Wisconsin and is the nation’s largest truckload carrier.

Based in Green Bay, Wisc., Schneider is ranked No. 9 on the 2002 Transport Topics 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian trucking companies.
