NHTSA Seeking Fuel Economy Comments

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it is seeking commens on the effect new mileage standards for medium- and heavy-duty trucks will have on the envionmnent.

NHTSA – which along with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is crafting new mileage standards for commercial vehicles, said it was looking for input as part of an environmental impact study.

The notice laid out a number of areas the agency may regulate, ranging from just testing engine emissions to testing the mileage of tractors and trailer together.

NHTS said it was taking comments until July 14. To comment, visit www.regulations.gov and enter Docket No. fr14jn10_20.
