NHTSA Investigating Jeep, Chevy Engine Fires
The government is investigating reports of engine fires in the Jeep Wrangler and Chevrolet Cruze.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received eight reports of fires in 2010 model-year Jeep Wranglers and two reports of fires in 2011 Cruze models, according to the Associated Press. Most of the fires began when the vehicles were moving, NHTSA said.
Chrysler Group spokesman Nick Cappa said the company knows of no accidents or injuries related to the issue. General Motors Co. spokesman Alan Adler the company knows of no deaths or injuries related to the issue. Both companies are cooperating with the investigation, the AP said.
