Letter to the Editor: Hours of Service

am concerned about the indecision regarding the hours-of-service rules.

t has been said that the rules that started in January were put into effect to make it safer for people on the road.

What about the workers who aren’t truck drivers who pull double shifts? Aren’t they just as tired — or maybe even more so — than a driver who has been on the road for 10 hours?

I haven’t heard of any bills being passed to regulate that. How would the common working stiff support his or her family if he or she can’t work overtime? It seems that, perhaps, there may be ulterior motives involved.

It’s been said that to change back to the old regulations would be too confusing. How would people be confused by a system they’ve been using for years and are comfortable with? In fact, there are still many who are confused by the new regulations.
