Leading Indicators Decline in August

The index of leading economic indicators fell in August, the New York-based Conference Board said Thursday.

The 0.6% downturn followed a 0.7% increase in July, the group said in its monthly report.

Economists had forecast the indicators to fall 0.4%, Bloomberg reported.

The LEI is closely watched by trucking companies because it forecasts business activity for the next three to six months.
