Landstar Creates International Logistics Unit

andstar System said late Friday it had created an international logistics subsidiary, Landstar Global Logistics.

The unit joins Landstar Express America and Landstar Logistics as company units, Landstar said in a statement.

Landstar said the new unit’s customers will benefit from existing domestic and international transportation and logistics services including ocean and air freight forwarding, intermodal, multimodal and expedited air and ground transportation and the company's planned expansion of its warehousing capabilities in 2006.

“We have the right business model in the right place at the right time to take advantage of today's global opportunities and we plan to do just that,” he said.

Landstar is ranked No. 14 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
